4 letter .com names on Pool Hotlist

Well it seems 4 letter .com domains are hotter than I thought. Pool.com puts out a hotlist everyday of the top dropping domains, and todays list includes all 4 letter .com domains except for one. The lone exception is surun.com, a 5 letter .com that doesn’t mean anything and would need to be branded to make it worth anything.

I don’t think 5 letter .com names should be considered hot, yet. There are still plenty of 5 letter names that could become the next google or yahoo. One example I hand registered yesterday is fruyt.com. In my opinion this is a much more brandable domain name than surun.com, although Surun may make a better name for a technology company, and it actually had a site built previously.

The four letter .com names on Pool’s list include

I don’t see one domain in that list is overly special. Maybe it’s just me and the fast changing environment in the domain name industry. I guess I need to get with the times.

I own several 4 letter .com’s and several 5 letter ones that I feel are brandable. The only problem is someone else needs to feel they are brandable in order to sell them at a profit.

Good deed of the day

Well I just did my good deed of the day, I hope. While doing some domain name research, I came accross the domainname amberalert.org and saw that it has an alexa rank of 414,648, but it is pointed to a godaddy parking page.

I did a whois look up to find out the owner is Global Alerts. They also own amberalert.com which has an alexa rank of 1,084,514. I emailed the whois contant, and told them they are missing out on all the traffic going to amberalert.org. I also explained godaddy was profitting from their traffic when ever someone clicks on one of there ads.

Within 5 minutes of sending the email, the domain was redirected to the home page at amberalerts.com. I’m not sure if it’s because of my email, or just a coincidence, but I feel like I did my good deed for today.

4 Letter .com domain names

I was just looking at some of the names I need to renew shortly that I registered last year around this time. I picked up several 4 letter .com names for the cost of the registration. Now I think that’s impossible I have been watching the results at TDNAM and you can’t get a 4 letter .com for less than $50.

I guess I should have loaded up on them last year when they were dropping like flys everyday. At the time I was only trying to find combinations of quality letters that made sense. Some examples of recent sales at TDNAM include YOGE.com for $2005 and OIEO which brought $606. I wonder if 5 letter .com domain names are next?
